Artist, Writer, & Educator

Ken Marunowski, a Cleveland, Ohio native, has cultivated a life-long investigation of language and image. Receiving Bachelor degrees in Painting and French, Ken studied both during his junior year abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France. A Masters degree in English as a Second Language took him to Dresden, Germany where he taught various writing classes, studied the German language, and reveled in the art and architecture of this Eastern European gem of a city. Ken returned to his alma mater, Kent State University, to complete a Ph.D. in Literacy, Rhetoric & Social Practice, focusing specifically on the field of Visual Rhetoric, and then taught Professional Writing at the University of Minnesota Duluth for several years. During summer breaks, Marunowski immersed himself in painting workshops at the New York Studio School and The Painting School of Montmiral, France. In 2016, Ken was awarded a summer Artist Residency at the Marchutz School of Fine Art in France and has pursued art as his primary avocation ever since. Now living in Bend, Oregon with his wife Carly, Ken teaches art classes and writes professionally in addition to his Fine Arts career.
